I have been working since 1986 (with my first
research project on Brazil) and later my study on South Africa in
1991 (to be published this year) on transitions in social systems.
Over the course of the last fifteen years, I have either researched
or through close proximity to events (living and studying in Berlin
and Dresden from 1989 to 2000) carefully observed the history of
transitions.
