I International Congress "History under Debate" (1993)
Dear colleague,The International Congress "A historia a debate" took place in Santiago de Compostela in 1993, a congress we had the privilege to coordinate; a meeting of historians of different traditions (Annales, Past and Present, amongst others) and different generations, what, we think, is a milestone in the transnational historiographic debate, and in the evolution of recent Spanish historiography.
Seventy nine reports, one hundred and eighty-four papers and more than eight hundred participants, thought about and debated, from the 7th to the 11th of July, two years ago, the state of our discipline, in relation with the problems of this puzzling and exciting end of the century.
We are now offering a selection, in three volumes, the rich materials produced by the Congress, which, we are convinced, will contribute to put us up to date as researchers and lecturers, methodologically and historiographically, with one eye on the future, on the history yet to be made.
At the same time, we have published a volume dedicate to the reports and papers, which we think would be profitable, which deal with Medieval History and Historiography. Thirteen papers not published in the general volumes.
The papers are published in the original language of the author.
Hoping that these publication would be of interest to you.
Yours faithfully.
