I believe that to consider the commitment of the historians with universal human values "dangerous" he is exabrupto. Since we have said at other moments, (in the presentation of HaD in Rosario the 19/10/02), we thought that the fundamental thing of the work of the historian is indeed the commitment that assumes conscientiously with the great social of Latin America, eternal majorities forgotten the development plans and the reflections of the intellectuals. Solidarity, for example, is a universal value that without him the humanity had not been able to break through through the centuries, particularly while predominated the primitive communities. If the democracy is the empire of the majorities, we assumed the principle to subordinate our intellectual work to the interests of those majorities. Certainly the world in that we create is a diverse world, of respect to the divergent opinions, but that always has limits. It is not possible to be affirmed, like I have listened anybody here in Venezuela recently, that in our society "the facists fit perfectly". It is that perhaps for the facists diversity exists. If here in Venezuela they have not begun to exterminate to those who does not think as they are simply because they have not been able. After 1945 a world-wide consensus was generated to suppress the fascismo, by its cruel and antisocial character. For that reason, the pluralism and recognition of tendencies have the limits that indeed establish the universal values that guide the development of the towns the democracy, the sovereignty, solidarity, justice, the equality.

The one to legitimize diverse ways of production, I do not believe that to the Argentineans nowadays have left desire to be legitimizing they to the neoliberal model that has taken them to the bankruptcy. As he could not either legitimize models failed like the Keynsian one and the Soviet. More than to legitimize the economic failures of Capitalism, it is necessary to open the creativity in the search of new forms of social organization. Of there the importance of postulating new paradigms, that never they will try to be a new prescription that replaces the previous ones.

En respuesta a Denise

Creo que considerar "peligroso" el compromiso de los historiadores con valores humanos universales es un exabrupto. Como hemos dicho en otros momentos, (en la presentación de HaD en Rosario el 19/10/02), pensamos que lo fundamental del trabajo del historiador es precisamente el compromiso que asume concientemente con las grandes mayorías sociales de América Latina, eternas olvidadas de los planes de desarrollo y de las reflexiones de los intelectuales.

La solidaridad, por ejemplo, es un valor universal que sin él la humanidad no hubiera podido abrirse paso a través de los siglos, particularmente mientras predominaron las comunidades primitivas. Si la democracia es el imperio de las mayorías, asumimos el principio de subordinar nuestro trabajo intelectual a los intereses de esas mayorías. Ciertamente el mundo en que creemos es un mundo diverso, de respeto a las opiniones divergentes, pero eso siempre tiene unos límites. No se puede afirmar, como he escuchado a alguien aquí en Venezuela recientemente, que en nuestra sociedad "caben perfectamente los fascistas". ¿Es que acaso para los fascistas existe diversidad?. Si aquí en Venezuela no han comenzado a exterminar a quienes no piensan como ellos es simplemente porque no han podido. Después de 1945 se generó un consenso mundial para suprimir el fascismo, por su carácter inhumano y antisocial. Por ello, el pluralismo y reconocimiento de tendencias tiene los límites que establecen precisamente los valores universales que guían el desarrollo de los pueblos la democracia, la soberanía, la solidaridad, la justicia, la igualdad.

Lo de legitimar diversos modos de producción, no creo que a los argentinos hoy en día les queden ganas de estar legitimando al modelo neoliberal que los ha llevado a la bancarrota. Como tampoco podría legitimarse modelos fracasados como el keynesiano y el soviético. Más que legitimar los fracasos económicos del capitalismo, hay que abrir la creatividad en la búsqueda de nuevas formas de organización social. De allí la importancia de postular nuevos paradigmas, que nunca pretenderán ser una nueva receta que sustituya a las anteriores.
