History to debate, I answer the two together proposals: the one of a supposed Latin American historiography and the article on the conceptions near the Spanish civil war. (" Manifest ") I consider that the question to understand the points of view so opposed that there is (happily still) between the historians does not pass by continents, neither by etnías, nor by the degree of development of Capitalism in its respective countries. It is certain that that influences, it conditions the forms in which the ways are assimilated to make history, the theories or conceptions that have been developed in the world, but not even is determining for the selection of subjects or formulation of problems. The bottom is in another side, exactly, as it says very clearly the Manifesto to it battle by History: it is in the interests of classes and the multifacéticas forms that it adopts in th complex historical processes.
And so it is so in HAD II, I put in clear my thought when somebody spoke of " the Argentineans " or of " the Latin Americans ". No, we are not confused, there we were many exhibitors of A.L. and several of my country with points of view that went from ortodoxia posmodernista, until uses of the dialectic historical materialism. In my communication and notes reflection made it notice what despareja fights we are taking in my country against a historiography " oficial"aparentemente outpost (in fact "globalizada so that if were exposed in English or French nobody would distinguish if it is before a unit of the " European or American vanguard " with the " fashions " that today can be included in a great " globe " of the posmodernidad). But he is interesting to observe that in HAD II these critical points of view did not come only from some Latin Americans, but that, although needle in a barn, appeared in some European and American. Interesting an anecdote of HAD II.
A Spanish historian from the public raised, after my intervention, that seemed that we had been (the " Argentineans "), traumatizados (that is the word that used) with the military, that in Spain however " had known there to heal the wounds ". If by hurt it is understood that there are an abyss between the interests of different sectors and classes from the society, those wounds cannot be closed while the classes exist unless we try to seal them with a policy of fear, deliberate forgetfulness, of terror, with the complicity of historians and other social scientists who respond " to an official " line are to say to the sectors of classes that have the power and try to manipulate the knowledge and the construction of the memory from the universities, the schools and massive mass media.
Here in my country, also the one " of that is installed is not spoken ". Or " it is spoken " of a part, but in fact the bottom is hidden. We are few those that we studied the paper of the financial oligarchy, the process of concentration of capitals and that we identified the owners of the power of the state to its service, that they made possible that today the national patrimony has been annihilated and has fallen at levels of absolute poverty a third of the population. We are very few those that from the university we see that process in the frame of the diverse forms that is adopting the fight of classes. That historian in HAD II, I asked to him if the historians of its country, or he himself, had studied how they took advantage of the owners of the great capitals to concentrate itself in all the stage of the pro-Franco dictatorship; what had studied about how so great capitals today were buying all the great companies of my country and of others and how now they were advancing on the companies of property and of how now they were advancing on the companies of property of the Spanish state. I could verify with that Congress, among other important things, that historians, still living and working in different continents, with different situations, can follow -without sometimes knowing it and until without quererlo- the directors of the sectors of the great capital in against until of their own interests, and they become echo of a speech that affirms that to surpass ballasts of the past it is necessary to watch towards the future and of course letting escudri6nar the reality with the theory of the fight of classes and imperialism.
I share with the authors of " the Manifest " mentioned one, I say it with the same words: " the historical memory is a battlefield of the fight of classes ". " the official " historians conscientiously do not participate in the battle to conquer the memory of the town, because in a washing caused by the " globalización " and the varied forms " in fashion " of the " posmodernismo ", create to have convinced and try to convince to the others that the fight of classes does not exist. And when I went to visit the Museum of the Alcazar de Toledo, ví the alive memory of those who overcame the civil war. They yes know that the fight of classes exists, peculiar paradox, while they clear this tool to him valuable to the towns to include/understand his history. They make their own history from their interests of class; they try to conquer the conscience of each one of the thousands of visitors who go per day, of all the Spanish students; like when from each púlpito of churches he continues himself raising develops of the Franco supporters against " the demon " and " the stateless ones ". Today, that does not see the historians it " of the system ", or they do not want to see it, and they confirm, from his seat of honor of privilege, trying to leave the battle because they know that it can be bloody, because incomoda, because is not worth in the curricula to add, not even on the footer, that one is a historian who is fighting scientific in the leafy plane of the ideas.
We are before a debate of crucial importance for the history today of the humanity.
