Salta a la vista, incluso por los temas elegidos, la voluntad de los
organizadores del II Congreso Internacional Historia a Debate de conceder una
gran participación a la historiografía latinoamericana. La elección no ha
sido en absoluto arbitraria: primero porque entre estos historiadores
-profesores de universidades e Institutos de segunda enseñanza desde el sur de
California hasta la Patagonia-, es detectable una muy elevada inquietud
intelectual y disposición a participar en el debate, lo que es un reflejo, a su
vez, de las tesituras por las que atraviesan aquellas sociedades y Estados, y de
las propias tensiones profesionales de esos profesores; segundo, porque cuentan
con la ventaja de estar muy familarizados con Internet (incluso más que los
historiadores españoles, al menos hasta el año 1998), lo que les permite
multiplicar los escenarios de debate; y tercero, porque esta situación es una
muestra -como lo son las "historiografías poscoloniales" o la
presencia de profesores venidos de la India, Egipto y Argelia-, del fenómeno
que se viene detectando desde hace una década, ya constatado en el Primer
Congreso de Historia a Debate: el creciente carácter "multicéntrico"
de la historiografía actual.

It jumps at sight, even by the chosen subjects, the will of the organizers of
II the Congress the International History under Debate to grant a great
participation to the Latin American historiography. The selection has not been
absolutely arbitrary: first because between these historians - professors of
universities and Institus of the second education from the south of California
to the Patagonia -, detectable he is very elevated intellectual restlessness
and disposition to participate in the debate, which is a reflection, as well,
of the tesituras by which they cross those societies and States, and of the
own professional voltages of those professors; second, because they count on
the advantage to be very familarizados with Internet (even more than the
Spanish historians, at least until year 1998), which allows them to multiply
the debate scenes; and third, because this situation is a sample - as they are
it the " postcolonials historiographys " or the presence of
professors come from India, Egypt and Algeria -, of the phenomenon that has
been coming detecting for one decade, already stated in the First Congress of
History under Debate: the increasing "multicentric " character of
the present historiography.
