Querido Carlos, Israel,y todos los amigos de Historia a Debate. Deseo hacerles llegar a Uds mi adhesión al excelente MANIFIESTO de Historia a Debate y quiero firmarlo entusiastamente. Muchos son los puntos que deseo remarcar del mismo. Pero remarco seguramente por escribir historia inmediata, profundamente influenciado por el Juicio a que soy sometido en Argentina por haber cronicado El Santiagueñazo, levantamiento popular ocurrido el 16/12/93 en mi provincia de Santiago del Estero, el punto sobre los "fines de la Historia" y el rol de los historiadores y el "compromiso" que debemos asumir con nuestra realidad.Por supuesto que sin que esto signifique menoscabar el importante papel de todos los que amamos y sentimos la historia. Permitanme una reflexión. Para ello parafraseo de memoria al maestro cubano Manuel Moreno Fraginal en su excelente trabajo dedicado al Che Guevara, "La historia como arma", pidièndole humildemente perdón por mi gran osadía "quien no conoce la salida del sol,los colores del ocaso, un híbrido de maíz, no puede ser historiador; quién no se emociona ante la mirada de un niño pobre, de la calle, no puede ser historiador; quien no ha comido de las ollas populares de los "piqueteros" argentinos, o "marchado" junto a los indígenas de Chiappas, del Paragüay, Bolivia o los Sin Tierra de Brasil,y todos los que resisten este mundo globalizado por los globalizadores, no puede ser historiador. En una palabra quien no comprende nuestra mision, que estamos aquí y ahora , no puede ser considerado historiador." Como bien dice el Manifiesto "debemos resistir,desde el conocimiento del pasado,los futuros indeseables". In my experience of classroom, like professor of history of Average Education, I state the great interest that wakes up in the pupils the tie subjects to recent history, in the Uruguayan case, by ej. the last military dictatorship (1973-1985), the difficulties of boarding of these thematic ones are multiple, from conceptual and the historiográfico thing, the problem to transform the history class into a simple chronicle of facts that can fall in the journalistic news. Presentismo " in our subjet has always worried to the problem mdel to me ", personally I believe that the historical operation must start off of the present and from is due there to interrogate the past, but must pass certain time to obtain certain degree of necessary objectivity, the " passions " cannot never weaken a class of History. From pedagogical, I think that positions must to take to class all on subjects controversial, so that is the student the one that forms its own opinions, from their own critical spirit, in this sense I believe that the respect at the beginning of laicism is the greater guarantee than all the actors of the educative task we have. En mi experiencia de aula, como profesor de historia de Educación Media, constato el gran interés que despierta en el alumnado los temas vinculados a la historia reciente, en el caso uruguayo, por ej. la última dictadura militar (1973-1985), las dificultades de abordaje de estas temáticas son múltiples, desde lo conceptual e historiográfico, el problema de transformar la clase de historia en una simple crónica de hechos que pueden caer en la noticia periodística. Siempre me ha preocupado el problema mdel "presentismo" en nuestra asignatura, personalmente creo que la operación histórica debe partir del presente y a partir de allí se debe interrogar el pasado, pero debe transcurrir cierto tiempo para lograr cierto grado de objetividad necesario, las "pasiones" no pueden nunca desvirtuar una clase de Historia. Desde lo pedagógico, pienso que se deben llevar a la clase todas las posiciones sobre temas polémicos, para que sea el alumno el que forme sus propias opiniones, a partir de su propio espíritu crítico, en este sentido creo que el respeto al principio de laicidad es la mayor garantía que todos los actores del quehacer educativo tenemos.
