In a infernal perhaps scene as this he is not sensible to make uprisings that jeopardize the own existence; these are not simple words in our mind the memory of the historian Darío Betancourt is fresh, who occurred to the task of analyzing subjects related to the drug trafficking, whose murder not yet has been clarified. Perhaps previously expressed it is the main reason to explain the relative silence of the historians and other investigators about a so burning and risky subject as the one of the armed conflict. It gives pain to say it, but this is the crude reality and undresses. Anthropologists, sociologist, economists, lawyers, professors, journalists, among others, receive to daily threats from any border. Some and some, with great valentía, continue speaking and writing, in the middle of great sacrifices and of the anguish that the situation produces. The escalamiento of the war will increase our shortages. Perhaps incapable to defend the ideas or the opinions with bullets or pumps, the only resource that we have left will be to do us to a side and to keep a discreet and afraid silence. Estimados colegas Me parece pertinente lo sugerido por el profesor José Polo Acuña acerca de realizar un debate, desde la historia, sobre el complejo tema del conflicto armado colombiano. No es sencillo para cualquier investigador, nacional o extranjero, introducirse en una problemática que a otros profesionales los ha colocado al borde de la muerte o del exilio. Muchos de ellos ya han sido asesinados por expresar opiniones desagradables relacionadas con cualquier actor del conflicto. Otra gran cantidad ha salido del país por amenazas contra su vida; gentes de "derecha", de "izquierda" o sin posición ideológica definida se fueron huyéndole a las balas o a las bombas. En un escenario infernal como este quizás no sea sensato hacer pronunciamientos que comprometan la propia existencia; estas no son simples palabras en nuestra mente está fresco el recuerdo del historiador Darío Betancourt, quien se dio a la tarea de analizar temas relacionados con el narcotráfico,cuyo asesinato aún no ha sido esclarecido. Quizás lo anteriormente expresado sea la principal razón para explicar el relativo silencio de los historiadores y de otros investigadores acerca de un tema tan candente y riesgoso como el del conflicto armado. Da pena decirlo, pero esta es la realidad cruda y desnuda. Antropólogos, sociólogo, economistas, abogados, profesores, periodistas, entre otros, reciben a diario amenazas desde cualquier orilla. Algunos y algunas, con gran valentía, siguen hablando y escribiendo, en medio de grandes sacrificios y de la angustia que la situación produce. El escalamiento de la guerra aumentará nuestras penurias. Incapaces de defender las ideas o las opiniones con balas o con bombas, quizás el único recurso que nos quede será hacernos a un lado y guardar un discreto y temeroso silencio.
