Para quien no sepa de qué hablo y esté interesado en conocer esta vía de trabajo, recomiendo visitar las webs citadas o, también, la lectura de un artículo que ha salido hace dos días en la revista _Sólo Programadores_ (año VIII, 2ª época, nº 86, pp. 22-29), que leí anoche y que está en cualquier kiosko de España o América. Está firmado por Miguel Arjona Villanueva y se titula "Aplicación de los metadatos a los sistemas de gestión del conocimiento (I)". Se trata de crear una red semántica en Internet, que permita localizar con precisión la información que necesitemos; lo cual implica la utilización de nuevos lenguajes (no sólo el HTML de esta web, sino el XML o el RDF), que los historiadores no tenemos por qué conocer, pero que permiten construir esa red "en la que el significado de los contenidos quede expuesto para su gestión mediante entidades digitales", como dice el autor.

Éste es un paso imprescindible, pero no el único camino en marcha. Los niveles más avanzados de desarrollo del hipertexto nos llevarán en unos meses a publicar contenidos, monografías, fuentes,... de calidad, en formato digital y con unas posibilidades no imaginables por muchos. Y estoy hablando de proyectos en marcha, no de utopías.

Y aunque estos pasos iniciales serán dubitativos, quizás, yo preveo que en tres años las cosas habrán cambiado radicalmente.
