Entre o entusiasmo daqueles que acreditam na rede de computadores como instrumento de pesquisa e pedagógico e o pessimismo dos amigos que destacam a superficialidade desse instrumento, gostaria de apontar algumas idéias O alargamento das possibilidades de comunicação - exatamente como estamos fazendo neste momento - possibilita um infinidade de diálogos, que podem ser ainda expandidos aos alunos de diferentes níveis. A qualidade dos trabalhos escolares provenientes de fontes da internet são diretamente proporcionais ao grau de exigência dos professores e à motivação dos alunos - que em se tratando de ler e escrever, estão abaixo de níveis aceitáveis, em especial no Brasil. Não há qualquer instrumento seletivo de conteúdo e de qualidade nas informações da internet, dai ser primordial o acompanhamento do professor e um trabalho previo de conhecimento sobre o tema pesquisado. Existe uma supervalorização da informática, em todos os níveis de aplicação prática, quando sabemos que ela foi responsável pelo aumento das tarefas burocráticas, pela proliferação de instrumentos de controle, pela fragilização do hábito de ler e escrever (com qualidade) e pela banalização de traços culturais locais, por meio da exploração comercial e turística.
