Hopefully you were right with respect to that Internet will change the form to make history. I believe that it can revolutionize something more than that we only must observe how the new social movements are developed that are arising most of them move through Internet.

It does little weeks I have been witness of how an alternative calendar of wall for the financing of different social and political organizations was made, and half of the collaborators of this calendar we did not know ourselves and our only contact was the mail. The calendar arrived home yesterday, and I was surprised we had collaborated in its accomplishment, there they were the names of other companions, and there it was the calendar.

I wonder myself how type will gather an east investigation of facts in a future not very distant. Let us hope that they do not continue using the " old journalistic sources " and decide that the movement antiglobalización was financed by the Cuban government, as it were gotten to affirm in several Spanish state newspapers, and that yes gather these new forms of work and social organization.

Internet is not only one source, but a form of organization, creator of new " historical facts "? That depends on us, of how we consider.

What I really mean is that Internet is (at the moment) mass media, not beyond a telephone, that is modifying the relations and communications of social groups. Those are these that really are introducing something new with their will to engage in a dialog and its search of solutions before the political and economic situation, nonInternet.

The Internet possibilities are infinite, but the two we know that the academic scope usually goes very behind the social reality, and is this one the one that introduces new developments using imaginatively the technologies, that by single himself do not create alternatives.

So to the question if Internet it changes the historiography, I want to respond yes that, to the question of if it creates new societies and new events, I respond that it will help like mass media, but that without the will of its users would be as a simple electronic mailman or a great data base.

Ojalá tuvieras razón en lo referente a que internet cambiará la forma de hacer historia. Creo que puede revolucionar algo más que eso sólo tenemos que observar cómo se desarrollan los nuevos movimientos sociales que están surgiendo la mayoría de ellos se mueven a través de internet.

Hace escasas semanas he sido testigo de cómo se realizaba un calendario de pared alternativo para la financiación de diferentes organizaciones sociales y políticas, y la mitad de los colaboradores de dicho calendario no nos conocíamos y nuestro único contacto era el mail. Ayer llegó el calendario a casa, y me sorprendí habíamos colaborado en su realización, allí estaban los nombres de otros compañeros, y allí estaba el calendario.

Me pregunto cómo recogerá una investigación este tipo de hechos en un futuro no muy lejano. Esperemos que no sigan usando las "viejas fuentes" periodísticas y decidan que el movimiento antiglobalización estaba financiado por el gobierno cubano, como se llegó a afirmar en varios periódicos estatales españoles, y que sí recojan estas nuevas formas de trabajo y organización social.

¿Internet no es sólo una fuente, sino una forma de organización, creadora de nuevos "hechos históricos"? Eso depende de nosotros, de cómo lo consideremos nosotros.

Lo que realmente quiero decir es que internet es (de momento) un medio de comunicación, no más allá de un teléfono, que está modificando las relaciones y comunicaciones de grupos sociales. Son éstos los que realmente están introduciendo algo nuevo con su voluntad de dialogar y su búsqueda de soluciones ante la situación política y económica, no internet.

Las posibilidades de internet son infinitas, pero las dos sabemos que el ámbito académico suele ir muy por detrás de la realidad social, y es ésta la que introduce novedades usando imaginativamente las tecnologías, que por sí solas no crean alternativas.

Así que a la pregunta de si internet cambiará la historiografía, quiero responder que sí, a la pregunta de si creará nuevas sociedades y nuevos acontecimientos, respondo que ayudará como medio de comunicación, pero que sin la voluntad de sus usuarios quedaría como un simple cartero electrónico o una gran base de datos.
